The app is now free for 2× enhancement, batch conversion and editable color SVG tracing. Use your personal xAI key without Pro. Optional Pro unlocks 4×–16× local enlargement and includes 100 weighted cloud credits per paid month. Downloads now use a signed, notarized DMG with drag-to-Applications installation.

Included

Offline Photo and Illustration AI models, 2×/4×/8×/16× enlargement, batch image and folder import, PNG/JPEG/WebP/HEIC/TIFF export, lossless WebP, before/after comparison, keyboard controls, quick presets, and optional signed software updates.

Installation

Open the downloaded DMG, drag Crispen.app onto Applications, and open Crispen from Applications. The AI models are bundled; no separate model download or Python installation is required.

SVG tracing

SVG exports contain editable paths in up to eight colors. Tracing samples images up to 768px; it is best for logos, icons and flat artwork. Photos become simplified illustrations. Gradients, transparency and tiny text are approximated. Illustration enhancement remains a separate raster AI model.

Known limits

Animated inputs use the first frame. JPEG flattens transparency onto white. AI can alter detail and text; inspect output before publishing. WebP is limited to 16,383 pixels per side, and processing is capped at 300 megapixels including intermediate passes. Preview images are bounded to control memory use.

Crispen Pro

Pro is optional. Free tools work without activation or an account. Pro unlocks 4×–16× local enlargement and includes managed cloud credits. Activate up to two Macs with the Pro key shown after Stripe checkout. Activation and periodic verification need internet; signed Pro access works offline for up to 72 hours. Manage or cancel the subscription from Settings → Pro.

Cloud Studio

Generate or edit images with Grok Imagine 2.0. Optional Pro includes 100 weighted cloud credits per paid monthly period: one for standard 1K, two for premium or 2K. No automatic overages. You can store your own xAI key in Keychain for direct provider billing without a Crispen subscription. OpenAI GPT Image and Gemini Nano Banana remain unavailable until connected and tested.

New look

A deep teal workspace, aqua buttons, mint accents, condensed headings, and Crispen’s sculpted enlarger and glass lock artwork bring the brand from the website into the Mac app.
